Mercedes-Benz Vans chose the 2017 North American Commercial Vehicle Show (NACV) to release the first teaser image of the new Sprinter. There’s a very good reason it chose this particular show. It’s in the process of completing construction of a dedicated Sprinter manufacturing facility in North Charleston, South Carolina, on the site of the current assembly plant. Sprinter is marketed under the Freightliner banner in the US.
Due to hit European showrooms in the first half of 2018, no specific details have been revealed yet, but there is no doubt that Merc will be throwing all the latest driver-assistance and telematic connectivity tech at its newcomer.
In the words of Volker Mornhinweg, head of Mercedes-Benz Vans at the NACV show: “We want to do more than just build the best vehicles. We want to offer the most suitable mobility solution for every sector and for every transport assignment. And that is precisely our focus with the upcoming Sprinter generation as an overall system solution. It also goes without saying that the new edition of our iconic van possesses the classical attributes of reliability, safety and cost-effectiveness.”
